Tool Maker (Apprentice)

Job Description

Assemble components from parts provided and/or made by the Bench Hand, Tool Makers or Machine Operators. Assist Tool Makers in their daily functions.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Obtain prints and other directions from the Foreman
  • Follow prints to assemble components or finished Tools
  • Reports nonconforming parts or components to Foreman
  • Measures, marks and scribes metal stock for machining
  • Uses hand tools and machinery to make parts for assembling tooling
  • Lifts machine parts and components. Positions and secures them for assembly
  • Verifies dimensions, alignment and clearances
  • Follow safety procedures
  • Has knowledge of the Quality System being used

Requirements

  • Formal education and/or equivalent experience in the Tooling Industry
  • Ability to set up and operate metal cutting and/or removal machines
  • Ability to read mechanical blue prints
  • Experience working with metal, tools and machinery for metal fabrication
  • Ability to perform basic shop math
